The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming! is the title of a 1966 comedy featuring Carl Reiner, Eva Marie Saint and Alan Arkin. Billed as, “It’s a Plot … to make the world die laughing.” The Cold War between the U.S. and Russia has triggered irrational imagination and insane propaganda across America for decades.

Historians credit President Truman with launching the First Red Scare when he signed an executive order in 1947 requiring federal employees to be screened for association with “Totalitarian, Fascist, Communist or subversive” organizations.
U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy led a heightened campaign to spread fear and political repression against Communist influence on America by Soviet agents, and this is considered the Second Red Scare in America.
Today, we’ve entered the Third Red Scare in America. Vladimir Putin fascinates citizens, while at the same time serving as the Monster from Moscow. Few Americans remember history — unless automatically generated in their Facebook feed or posted on TBT (Throwback Thursday).
Former grad school mate Byron Williams said, “Never thought in my lifetime this could be a plausible headline.” Both of us took Russian and Soviet history from Dr. Joann Ruckman. As a foreign policy expert, she certainly hoped we would normalize relations with the Russian people.
Professor Ruckman reminded us in WWII, where the U.S. lost some 500,000 heroes to Nazi aggression, the Soviet Union lost 25 million. Like us, they simply want to secure their nation and live happy, prosperous lives.
Hillary Clinton and Vlad
Michael Crowley and Julia Ioffe wrote a summary detailing Why Putin Hates Hillary about two years ago. They begin their narrative in December 2011. Massive protests were raging in Moscow against President Putin. The Bear made it clear he blamed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Facebook friend Keith Clark shared Matt Funiciello’s humorous commentary about Election 2016. RussiaGate exposes Russia meddled in the last election by “telling us what Hillary did.”
“We need to safeguard ourselves from this interference in our internal affairs.”
“She said they were dishonest and unfair,” an angry Putin seethed in public remark. He believed Secretary Clinton gave “a signal” to demonstrators working “with the support of the U.S. State Department” to undermine his power. Putin was emphatic, “We need to safeguard ourselves from this interference in our internal affairs.”
Isn’t this what America pundits and political leaders say about alleged hacking and intrusion by Russian operatives in American elections? We are ready to go to war, yet Hillary led an America-funded campaign to discredit Putin’s presidential run in 2011.
Foreign policy experts believe Putin and advisers were aware Secretary Clinton, even as she executed Obama’s “reset” policy with Russia, took a harder line toward Moscow than others in the administration.
They add Putin considered Clinton to be a forceful proponent of “regime change” policies, similar as she furthered in Syria, Libya, Yemen and other nations. This led the Russian leader to view her action as a grave threat to his own survival.
Isn’t this karma? What goes around eventually comes back around.
Hillary wanted Vladimir Putin to fail in his bid for Russian president. Consequently, President Putin likely worked five years later to ensure Hillary never again sat foot in the White House. Isn’t this karma? What goes around eventually comes back around.
President Putin didn’t collude with Donald Trump or his campaign to help him defeat Hillary. Similar to most Americans early in the 2016 campaign, Putin likely didn’t deem Trump a serious candidate. Putin simply wanted to sow seeds of doubt about Hillary. He would take his chances with the next Republican president — whoever it might be.
U.S. Politicians and Media Seek Enemies
One of the most effective ways to mobile a base of political power is to manufacture an “us vs. them” crisis. Historically, Democrats tended to demonize Big Business as working to exploit and cheat the Main Street Family. Republicans have furthered Big Bad Government rhetoric against the independent and entrepreneurial spirit of citizens.
Election 2016 looked like it would follow traditional political discourse. Then came Bernie. As an independent who only caucused with Democrats, he brought his Democratic Socialism philosophies to Main street.
Within months nearly every person under the age of 30 was expressing the Feel The Bern rally cry. The People were demanding to take America back from the greedy rich. Us vs. them! Political newcomer, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, currently teams up with Bernie to push a Leftist agenda

The political right was undergoing a revolution as well. Donald Trump wasn’t playing nicely. This school yard bully was eliminating adversaries one-by-one. His crude, rude and unscripted style caught conservatives off-guard. They hadn’t taken him seriously. Now, he was taking them!
Trump promised to Build a Wall to keep out rapists, criminals and drug dealers. He also vowed to Drain the Swamp of entrenched power players. Us vs. them!
Facebook friend David Eubanks captures the madness. There’s an old adage people should “follow the money” to determine real instigators of political and social action. Dale Reynolds asks whose advantage it is to have Russia as the generic enemy of the USA.
Mr. Eubanks points out the threat from Russia is minimal and hasn’t changed. Why then is Russia on our collective radar today? The political narrative has changed. AsWhy!
Currently, we hear cries about TREASON because President Trump cozied up to the Russian president. Facebook friend Steve Grocki suggests we should not forget our history with the Bear. When did Putin become our enemy?
Facebook friend Werner Boomer Rosenbaum captures the sentiments by most people on the political left. Former Nixon White House Counsel, John Dean, is “horrified” by Trump’s performance at the Helsinki press conference. Dean clearly sees both Trump and Putin as enemies of the American state.
Facebook friend Lori Craven Cano added to the anti-Trump parade. She forwarded comments by Republican Senator John McCain, who claimed Trump made a “conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press …”
Facebook friend Cindi Zirk Okeefe shared a meme disparaging Trump, “All in All. You’re just another prick with no wall.” OUCH!!! Many Americans believe the Russians posted Fake News and conducted psyops to convince Americans to turn against each other. Can we blame Russia for Cindi’s uncivil remarks?
For those who can’t remember more than a few previous days of conversations on social media, Mr. Grocki shared a video clip of President Obama telling Russian President Dmitri Medvedev he would have “more flexibility” after his re-election in 2012. The ForAmerica campaign considers Obama’s action to be Russian collusion.
Gregory Barrett believes there are many, many reasons to despise the lying, vicious, torturing, mass-murdering war criminal of a former CIA Director John Brennan. But the Number 1 reason he hates that bloodsucking-pseudo-human-disease-carrying-tick Brennan today is the director forces him to defend the Orange Disaster.
American leaders criticize Russia for allegedly meddling in our election, although Obama/Clinton interfered in theirs, and we are guilty of overthrowing foreign governments, creating refugee crises, and leaving hundreds of thousands of corpses in our wake.
Mr. Barrett chastises those who call the desire for peace with Russia “treason,” as they make him want to go burn a flag.
President Trump and Russia Relations
Mr. Eubanks shared a twitter comment from @realDonaldTrump. Stepping back from Election 2016, don’t most of us want to seek peace with Super Power nations, such as China and Russia? Should we view these countries as enemies or competitors?
Independent-political thinker Ron Paul criticized the mainstream media (MSM) for casting Russia as an enemy. He believes this is “wrong.”
Mr. Clark appears to have captured the State of the Nation this week. The Henny Penny “sky is falling” political left is apoplectic at this time.
