Americans have rarely been as divided along partisan lines as they are now, according to the Pew Research Center. Their recent study shows the nation’s political differences on most issues have widened after the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency. The average gap between Democrats and Republicans in 1994 was fifteen points. Today, it’s 36 points.
“Partisan divides across political values … [are] wider than at any point in the past.” Jocelyn Kiley, associate director for research at the Pew Research Center
Democratic Senator McCaskill is an American Democracy Superhero. She wants to narrow this divisive gap. Claire Conner McCaskill is an American politician in the Democratic Party who serves as the senior United States Senator from Missouri, a seat she was first elected in 2006.

Although McCaskill was an outspoken Clinton supporter during the 2016 election, she told MSNBC recent comments by Hillary appeared to be “criticizing Missouri voters” and this “wasn’t helpful.” Hillary had complained she lost in part because White women refused to stand up to the men in their lives who may have pressured them to vote for Trump.
Hillary continued, “If you look at the map of the United States, there’s all that red in the middle where Trump won. I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward. And his whole campaign, Make America Great Again, was looking backwards.”
Hillary ridiculed conservative voters, “You didn’t like Black people getting rights, you don’t like women, you know, getting jobs. You don’t want, you know, to see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are. Whatever your problem is … working for a woman now, you don’t like it. Whatever the reason was, Trump stirred that up.” Misandrous comments like this is why White males are angry.
WOW!!!
Senator McCaskill is one of several red state Democrats who are seeking re-election in November, and Trump defeated Clinton in Missouri by nearly 20 points. Extreme partisan comments and behavior threaten her career — along with our Republic. Polarization destroys democracy. Referring to conservative Americans as Hillary did during the 2016 campaign, calling them “baskets of deplorables,” or shaming Bernie supporters for being “basement dwellers,” simply isn’t helpful.
“For those of us that are in states that Trump won we would really appreciate if she would be more careful and show respect to every American voter and not just the ones who voted for her” — Claire McCaskill on Hillary Clinton
Senator McCaskill responded in the Washington Post that Hillary’s comments are “fighting words.” She added, “I have great respect for Missouri voters. And there are a lot of reasons they voted for Donald Trump. Some of which I completely understand. I mean, frustration is a powerful motivator. And if you’ve played by the rules and worked hard all your life and you’re further behind this year than you were 10 years ago no wonder you want something completely different.”
Politically, the Clintons are toast. The way Donald Trump treats women is horrific, but the closer society looks at The Donald, the more disgusting Bill Clinton appears as well. Hillary protected a predator husband. She also ignored warnings about — and accepted boatloads of money from — Super Hollywood Predator, Harvey Weinstein.

The Clintons have lost their political capital in America. They now are a heavy anchor on the Democratic party and progressive candidates. Senator McCaskill’s gracious and loyal support for Hillary was going to damage her candidacy. Hillary’s latest whining about her loss gave the senator an opportunity to go on the record rebuking her former colleague. Senator McCaskill has moderated her position by siding with her conservative constituents. She reaches across the isle and extends an olive branch for greater cohesion. I ask Republicans to reach back. It’s time to demonstration leadership for The People.
For America to be successful, we must move closer to each other politically. A divided nation will be torn apart from within or destroyed by enemies abroad. What do you think?
