UPDATE 9.16.25: Weak People Are Afraid of Diversity
In 1950, 81% of Mississippi residents said NO BLACK STUDENTS in their schools. Most racist state in nation. Congratulations Hawai’i. You now are #1 most racist. StarAd poll. You can learn how to become a champion rather than live life as a coward at BecomingTribal.com

UPDATE 9.15.25: Kāko’o Haleakalā Disrespects Pauahi
Princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop created two schools: one for boys, one for girls. Administrators DENIED her will integrating boys and girls in 1965. Princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop said all teachers had to be Protestant. Illegal. EEOC sued under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin. Kamehameha School ended this discrimination.
Princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop wanted students to receive the best education so Kanaka keiki could compete in a global world. She was not afraid. Kamehameha Schools denies admission to Asian, Black, Latino and White students. Illegal also. Some argue the discrimination VIOLATES the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Kamehameha Schools supporters claim the schools are PRIVATE, no public or federal dollars used. If privately funded, Kamehameha Schools officials VIOLATE Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which prohibits race-based exclusion in private contracts.
However one slices and dices the issue, Kamehameha Schools violates anti-discrimination standards in Hawai’i and the U.S. Shows school administrators are afraid non-Kanaka students might perform better than Kanaka keiki and diminish the learning environment. Administrators weaken the honor of Pauahi. The schools diminish the greatness of the Kanaka Lāhui .

He Inoa No Pauahi — In Honor of Pauahi
Kanaka have become AFRAID to compete.
This is the official petition from @kamehamehaschools. Once again, Kamehameha is under attack — and this is our chance to stand together, defend Ke Aliʻi Pauahi’s will, and protect the future of our lāhui. Ke Aliʻi Pauahi’s legacy built more than schools. It created opportunities, cared for ʻāina and wai, and strengthened our entire community. ![]()

By signing, you are standing strong for Pauahi, for Native Hawaiians, and for Hawaiʻi’s future. False. By signing, you weaken the memory of Pauahi, the Native Hawaiians — Kanaka, and hurt Hawaiʻi’s future. He inoa no Pauahi. A name for Pauahi. In her dishonor, please lend your own name to weaken the Native Hawaiian — Kanaka lāhui — who are afraid to compete. Admit that Asian, Black, Latino and White students are superior.

UPDATE 9.15.25: Confused Republicans in Hawai’i
The Republican MAGA coalition on mainland U.S.A. does not support DEI (Diversity – Equity – Inclusion) policies. They stand for merit-based decision making in application and selection. Republicans in Hawai’i now claim adding Asian, Black, Latino or White students to Kamehameha Schools somehow diminishes the learning environment.
Princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop wanted students in her schools to learn English; she mandated all teachers be Protestant. Clearly her intent was to develop students who could compete in a global community. The princess never specified that her schools should be restricted to only Native Hawaiian – Kanaka keiki.
“We will not stand idle while outside forces attempt to rewrite the legacy of Princess Pauahi. This policy was created to address generations of social and economic injustice, and we will stand shoulder-to-shoulder to defend it.” [Sen. Kurt Fevella]
“We’re here to show solidarity and unity and to call on the community, for everyone in the community to stand by and fight these encroachments that are coming from these folks on the mainland who are trying to come in and attack the legacy and the trust of Pauahi.” [Sen. Jarrett Keohokalole, co-chair of the Native Hawaiian Caucus]
“So this isn’t purely giving students preference based on race. This is a private will that was founded and created in 1883 prior to Hawai’i becoming a territory, prior to Hawaii becoming a state.” [Jacob Aki]
White Americans could make similar claims and not add other groups in their institutions or businessse. Crazy times.
UPDATE 9.15.25: State Senators Brenton Awa and Rep. Diamond Garcia Create Controversy
Reported by Hawai’i New Now, the two Republican legislators flew to Virginia seeking an audience with Edward Blum, director of Students For Fair Admissions. Clearly these two are not in line with the Republican Party (MAGA) on mainland USA that seeks to end DEI programs across the nation.
Republican state Rep. Kanani Souza condemned the trip, “As far as the backlash on social media, it’s rightfully so. These two individuals, these two legislators, by their own admission, went to Virginia to visit the UPS store mailbox, and at the end of the day, we already had one mailbox conspiracy, we don’t need another mailbox conspiracy here in Hawaii.”
“Mahalo to them for doing what they thought was best. I can appreciate that. If it wasn’t going to be a fruitful meeting, or if it wasn’t going to gain a lot of traction, I would probably reconsider where to put my efforts,” Native Hawaiian community leader Kumu Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu.

UPDATE 9.14.25: StarAd Headlines Sunday Edition with Article
Virginia-based Students for Fair Admissions launched a website and outreach early this month called KamehamehaNotFair.org seeking plaintiffs to contest Kamehameha’s admissions policy. Their article is NOT available to the public. [source]
Kamehameha Schools is NOT FAIR. They refuse to admit Asian, Black, Latino or White students. This policy VIOLATES the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which was championed by Democrats in Hawai’i. Kamehameha Schools supporters argue that the schools are PRIVATE, no public or federal dollars, are used. Then Kamehameha Schools officials violate Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which prohibits race-based exclusion in private schools and contracts. Pick your poison. America and Hawai’i do not allow discrimination based on race.

UPDATE 9.12.25: Native Hawaiians AFRAID They Cannot Compete
So very sad to see such a great people and culture become weak and scared. Kamehameha Schools and local officials have lost confidence in Kanaka keiki. They believe Kanaka keiki cannot compete with Asian, Black, Latino and White students. I would hate my parents to think this way about me. I’d say, “Bring it on. Let other students learn about our history, traditions, culture and language. I want to be with the Best & Brightest.”

UPDATE 9.12.25: Democratic Party of Hawai’i Supports Charlie Kirk Hate Speech
The Democratic Party of Hawai’i, like Charlie Kirk, does NOT support the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Democratic Party of Hawai’i claims to stand in support of Kamehameha Schools and Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop’s enduring legacy. The princess did not request that White students, or non-Kanaka students, not be admitted to her schools. [download letter]

UPDATE 9.11.25: Local Politician Kaniela Ing Comments
Kaniela Ing, politician, quoted, “All Hawaii stand together. It is now and forever, to raise our voices and hold our banners high.” – Liko Martin. He added a number of memes available on his social media page. Kaniela won’t get my vote.

Personally, I’m not a “far-right” activist. I’m independent. However, on this issue, I stand with WOKE activists on the left. When Kamehameha Schools DENIES admission to others based on their ancestry or race, they VIOLATE the U.S. civil rights laws. Only WEAK PEOPLE are afraid to be around other people! If I ran Kamehameha Schools, I would be honored to have White, Black, Latino and Asian students join the proud Kanaka ‘ohana.
Kamehameha Schools was founded in 1887: one school for boys; one for girls. Kanaka keiki spoke ʻŌlelo Hawaiian. The kings and queens, their keiki, went to the finest schools in America and Britain — so they could learn English and be leaders in a global world. Princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop wanted Kanaka keiki to learn English as well, so they could compete and lead in the world. Kaniela claims learning English is a “tool for assimilation.” However, Kaniela is writing in English. Ironic, right? If one wants to lead in Hawai’i or the U.S., then speaking English is required.

Kaniela claims the school trained Hawaiian kids to “survive in an unfair world.” CORRECT. The world has never been fair. Nobody is promised fairness. Failing to learn English means the student is more likely to fail in this unfair world. The colonialist in the islands was Kamehameha the Great. He embraced British culture, their weapons and their tactics of war. He wore the uniform of the British leader. He designed the Kingdom of Hawai’i flag to honor the British. The British spoke English. So did the Americans. They were great powers at the time; remain great powers today. The Kingdom of Hawai’i ended in 1895. The kingdom was never a great power.
Kaniela claims “those same forces want it dismantled.” Nobody suggests Kamehameha Schools should be dismantled. Kaniela claims adding JUST ONE White, Black, Latino or Asian student will “dismantle” the learning environment. I challenge Kaniela to explain why. If I ran the school, I would seek greater diversity, because I’m WOKE — and more diversity makes for more learning and understanding.
In addition, Princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop expected her school to follow the law — and Civil Rights laws do not allow schools to deny students based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion or ancestry. The princess initially demanded ONLY Protestant teachers. This provision violated the law and Kamehameha Schools changed their policy. Only weak people are afraid to compete with other groups of people.

Kaniela asks what does “merit” mean? He’s incorrect about what it means in America. Nope, not your daddy; not your prep school; not whether you can afford a tutor. Merit means can you read at 7th grade level if you are a seventh grader. Merit means can you do math at a 10th grade level if you’re entering the 10th grade.
It is wonderful if a student serves the community. All people should serve. Yet one cannot become a bank teller if they don’t know how to add up cash and coins. They can’t become an engineer if they don’t know how to multiply and divide at a high level.
If all a student wants to do is SERVE tourists their plate dinner, then “merit” isn’t important. However, the student won’t make much money serving tourists. Up to you, Kaniela. Your attitude might force Kanaka families to leave the islands because they can’t land professional jobs.
Kaniela claims it’s “eerily familiar. Americans elites are parachuting into Hawai’i with radical agendas.” RADICAL? Kaniela is a “politician” and claims the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is radical. Oi brah, it’s a landmark U.S. federal law that prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin in public accommodations, employment, schools and federally-funded programs.
Prior to the 1964 legislation, White folks could DENY a Black person or a Kanaka keiki from being admitted to a mainland college; men could deny a woman from working in their offices; Protestants could deny Catholics from serving in government. RADICAL? Brah, smoke meat not meth.

Kaniela claims he was in high school when he joined his first protest to defend Kamehameha Schools’ admission policy. Wrong then. Violated 1964 Civil Rights legislation at that time. Understandable for a young student however. Hasn’t learned anything since. Going backward. Maybe Kamehameha Schools should teach Constitutional Law. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
UPDATE 9.11.25: Local Public School Teacher Alan Kawada Responds
Hawaii was once a kingdom of beautiful, pure Hawaiians. Along came the missionaries, and married themselves into ownership of vast acres of Hawaiian land. They developed huge plantations of agricultural products, and imported Asian immigrants to work the fields. Chinese immigrants inter married with Hawaiian women. Today, the pure Hawaiian will be extinct within the next decade. Today, residents of Hawaiian ancestry, are being economically forced out of our state. They are being replaced by wealthy white families. Many residents of Hawaii would love going back to the Monarchy that was illegally stolen from the Hawaiian people. Now, a maga politician wants to take Kamehameha Schools from the Hawaiian people. Auwe.

Scott Goold Responds:
Alan Kawada — you’re a teacher. I’m a 3rd generation teacher as well. I know of NO reason to ever send my keiki to Kamehameha Schools. Only losers go there. I would send my child to Punahou School. Fuck the whiny Kanaka !!! They can have their corrupt monarchy. When British Captain Cook arrived in 1778, there were about 500,000 Kanaka. By 1893, year of the overthrow, only 40,000 remained. Kamehameha MURDERED 10,000s in his wars to capture the islands. The monarchy invited 1,000s of outsiders to make the kingdom money — and the outsiders brought disease.
#1 JOB of government is to PROTECT their people. Corrupt and Incompetent Monarchy failed. Kanaka were going extinct. Kamehameha III gave away all the land in 1850. 1/3rd went to him; 1/3rd to his friends; final 1/3rd went to common Kanaka, but they had ONLY two years to sign up. Common Kanaka grabbed about 28,000+ acres of 4 MILLION … 1%. The monarchy stole their land and killed all the people.
Have fun at Kamehameha Schools. The princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī donated about 350,000 acres to the school. The school FAILED to properly maintain the grounds … and on August 8, 2023, wildfire broke out on their unmanaged grasses and incinerated Lahaina town, killed 102+ local people, including keiki; destroyed over 2,200+ buildings and homes; and left more than 8,000+ local families victimized and destitute. Billions of dollars in losses to insurance ratepayers, HECO ratepayers and taxpayers.
Viva la Monarchy !!! Someone ought to cut off their heads or throw them into the volcano.
Scott Goold, PhD: Becoming Tribal . com
Kamehameha Schools refuses to admit White Americans or any American students, Black, Asian, Latino, if they are not Native Hawaiian (Kanaka). They refuse to live aloha in the islands. Imagine: Kanaka teacher with 25 Kanaka students, yet Kamehameha Schools claims one White American student will destroy the learning environment.
Imagine if men said this about women (they did); or White folks made such claims about including a Black student (they did). Americans said no … that’s not aloha. We worked hard to pass and enforce Civil Rights legislation.
Kamehameha Schools now takes us backward. They teach Native Hawaiian (Kanaka) keiki to be afraid of White students; be hostile toward White students; and to divide and distance themselves from White students. How can the promised and hope of aloha be fulfilled under such conditions?
Kamehameha School falsely blames Americans for loss of land and kingdom. Kamehameha III enacted the Great Mahele in 1850 to divide land in the islands. The king took 1/3rd of the land, gave 1/3rd to his friends, and gave common Kanaka two years to claim their collective 1/3rd of lands — kuleana lands. If they made no claim in this time, they lost land rights forever.
Only a handful of common Kanaka took advantage of the land offer: just 1% of the total land area in the islands went to common Kanaka. The king prevented common people from owning land after this point. Today, Kanaka blame White Americans for the loss of their land.
Local residents in Hawai’i overthrew a corrupt king (1887) and queen (1893). These were second and third generation local families. King David Kalākaua taxed heavily and spent foolishly. The people demanded the 1887 constitution or else. Queen Lili’uokalani wanted to undo that agreement, recover her power, and fund the kingdom with national lottery and sales of opium.
Local residents said no more monarchy. Today, Kanaka blame White Americans for the loss of their kingdom. Kamehameha Schools furthers these claims. That’s likely the reason they don’t want White Americans in their learning environment. Kamehameha Schools would have to end the Convenient Lies and teach the Inconvenient Truth.
SEE the review at Becoming Tribal. Let’s talk about aloha. Let’s demand a better world:
Race-Based Kamehameha Schools Admission Policy
KamehamehaNotFair.org Challenge
This mainland group says Kamehameha Schools is a great school system, but its admissions policy expressly prefers students with Native Hawaiian ancestry over non-Native Hawaiian students. In fact, that preference is so strong that it is essentially impossible for a non-Native Hawaiian student to be admitted to Kamehameha (only two non-Kanaka students have been admitted since 1965). The group believes focus on ancestry, rather than merit or need, is neither fair nor legal, and they claim they are committed to ending Kamehameha’s unlawful admissions policies in court.

The group adds, if your child has been denied admission to Kamehameha, we want to hear from you. If you are interested in having your child apply to Kamehameha but effectively cannot because it discriminates against non-native Hawaiians, we want to hear from you.
The civil rights group asks interested families to please fill out the form on their website. After doing so, they also encourage you to join our organization, Students for Fair Admissions.

News Release from Kamehameha Schools
Aloha nō e ka ʻohana o Kamehameha, Sept 4, 2025
We write to you in the spirit of aloha, pono, and wiwoʻole.
We anticipated that our nearly 140-year-old admissions policy, providing preference to Native Hawaiian children, would again be challenged. It appears that moment is upon us. Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha is being confronted by a national organization mobilizing opposition to our policy. We want to assure you that our kula and operational leaders are prepared and committed to vigorously defending the vision of Ke Ali‘i Pauahi. We are confident that our policy aligns with established law, and we will prevail.
The road ahead will be long, but as Ke Aliʻi Pauahi did in her time, let us turn to our faith in Ke Akua, in Hawaiʻi’s ancestors and traditions, and in our lāhui, to grant us the strength and guidance needed as we stand firmly to protect what is pono.
Your strength and kōkua will be essential in this fight. We will be reaching out soon with ways you can stand with us. Just as we did decades ago when Ke Aliʻi Pauahi’s will was challenged, now again is the time for us to ʻonipaʻa and unite as a lāhui, for Ke Ali‘i Pauahi, and for generations of keiki and moʻopuna to come.
