In what may be a first in the aloha state of Hawai’i, CivilBeat reports that a polymer 80 Glock ghost gun was used to shoot and kill Maui Police Department Officer Suzanne O. [1] Appears she and the other officers were ambushed. Bullet that killed Officer O came from a privately made firearm, “ghost gun,” and penetrated about an inch above her protective vest. O’s killing — first fatal shooting of a Maui police officer since 1950s — has been traumatic for those who worked with her.

Court documents reveal Kaneholani had been removed from his home just two days earlier. Police served, Clembert Alii Kaneholani, 38, with a temporary restraining order (TRO) after his girlfriend and mother of their six children filed the complaint on Wednesday. She stated Kaneholani showed up at the safe house two times looking for her and reported Kaneholani has a gun and carries it with him.[2]
“Before I tried to leave, he hit me so hard in my mouth that he cracked my tooth. I could not move as he just continued to hit me and hit me. I am in pain until this day with my tooth and I cannot eat normally.”
“As I am making this TRO, he is texting me that I better get home now or all my stuff and the kids stuff will be all over the yard. I am taking steps to get us safe, but I need this TRO to keep us safe.”
Officers served Kaneholani with the TRO, and removed from his home Wednesday night. Kaneholani, is a convicted felon, and it’s illegal for him to have a gun. MPD should have arrested him at that time. Had they done their job, followed the law, Kaneholani would have been locked up and unable to kill MPD Officer O. WOKE policies get good people killed. At around 8:30 p.m., Friday, MPD officers were searching an old sugar mill for the suspect. O was one of six officers who responded to a call from a Pāʻia groundskeeper, reported a man was trespassing and had fired a gun at him multiple times. Body camera video shows Kawas and other officers walking through tall grass, using flashlights to search behind water tanks and cement walls, and Kaneholani fired. Officers heard a sudden and explosive “boom,” followed by the screams of Officer O. Kaneholani has been charged with first-degree murder in O’s killing and other offenses.
“People should be in fear of the criminal justice process. Probation or light sentences is absolutely ridiculous. That’s wrong,” MPD chief John Pelletier said. “You look at all of the details that we know about the suspect that’s been released at this time, and that individual should not have a gun.”
“She was the finest of us. That is not an understatement,” Pelletier said. “She helped out wherever she could. I don’t know anybody that ever said an unkind thing about her. She was an absolute rising star in this department and this community, and she served with honor and distinction.” A candlelight memorial is planned for 7:30 p.m. Friday at the police station in Wailuku, Maui.
